Champs-sur- Tarentaine	A complex of two pools with small café selling light refreshments (chips, soft drinks, ice-cream etc.).	15 minutes
Bort Les Orgues	A complex of two pools with high diving board.	15 minutes
Mauriac	Situated in the Val St. Jean leisure area. Includes lake, pedalo hire, swimming pool with water slides (golf also available).	25 minutes
Chateau De Val	Spectacular lake. Great views of the chateau. Licensed bar selling light refreshments, ice cream etc. Facilities include pedalo and dinghy hire, guided boat trips along the Dordogne River, water skiing etc. Supervised cordoned off area for children (peak season only).	20 minutes
Lastouille	Large Picturesque lake. Sailing club facilities, Supervised cordoned off area for children (peak season only).	35 minutes
Neuvic	Scenic lake, beach volleyball courts, sailing school and other watersports facilities. Cordoned off area for children.	40 minutes

Eating Out

Here are a selection of restaurants that we have visited and enjoyed. The region offers many more not listed:

Restaurant Puy l'Abbé
Situated three minutes walk from the house is the local restaurant. It is very well known in the area. Whilst the décor and the atmosphere are fairly basic, the food really is good and the owners charming. Don't expect a menu, it doesn't work like that! You just reserve a table in advance and turn up. A typical meal would consist of five courses and would cost about £11.00 including wine.

Relais Arverne
Logis de France hotel and restaurant in Saignes, two miles drive from the house.

Chateau du Lac
In Madic. Fifteen minutes drive from the house. Good selection of menus.

Auberge du Vieux Chêne
Situated twenty minutes drive away. Michelin recommended. Excellent food and beautiful surroundings.
